Michael Topper

Owner, Site Administrator
modus@roboawesome.com

Michael is the founder of RoboAwesome and serves also as senior editor and web designer and although he’s been called a hero, alas, he is just a man. He’s always lived in Southern California and is a devout gamer. In typical Western gamer fashion Michael mostly enjoys shooter games like Call of Duty and Halo as well as stealth action like Metal Gear Solid and Splinter Cell.

Aron Deppert

PR Manager, Senior Editor
aron@roboawesome.com

As a youngin’, Aron cut his gaming teeth on the NES. Countless hours spent in Hyrule and the Mushroom Kingdom helped him cultivate the skills that are the basis of what he is today: Chicago’s most ruthless Pokémon master. Some would think a bearded man pushing 30 would be ashamed to be seen in public wearing a Pikachu hat, but for Aron it is a badge of honor. When he’s not collecting gym badges, Aron likes games such as those from the Final Fantasy, Super Mario Bros., Legend of Zelda, and Ace Attorney series.

Jessie Moore

Video Content, Podcast Host, Senior Editor
jessie@roboawesome.com

From a small town in Northern Florida, Jessie has been gaming since his parents got him an NES. From then he was hooked. As he grew up he realized he was an equal opportunity nerd, enjoying all things nerdy, from comics, anime, Sci-fi, table top gaming, sports, and of course video games. His favorite are MMO’s, RPGs, Action Adventure…. really anything as long as its fun. Jessie also enjoys video game music!

Lucas White

Staff Writer
lucas@roboawesome.com

Residing in the perilous hipster den of downtown Charlottesville, Virginia, Lucas has had a great passion for video games and gaming culture ever since Donkey Kong Country became a member of his household. Since then, similarly powerful interest in both writing and film developed, and he figured: why not combine at least two of these? Eventually he was enlisted in the band of warriors known as RoboAwesome as a scribe and has solemnly vowed to produce only the highest quality of journalistic video game prose. Favorite game series include Street Fighter, Dragon Quest, Sam and Max, and MOTHER.

Ryan O’Donnell

Staff Writer
ryano@roboawesome.com

In an origin story similar to many gamers his age, Ryan started out playing Super Mario Bros. on his uncle’s old NES and hasn’t looked back since, with the exception of a brief period in high school where he thought he was too cool for nerdy things but quickly realized he was not. Although an equal opportunity gamer, Ryan’s favorite genres include action, first person shooters, and RPGs. These take up the majority of his gaming time, except for a brief period every Fall when he puts everything to the side to immerse himself in playing Madden, a phase which lasts about a month. Originally from the East Coast, he currently resides in Southern California and hopes to find a lifelong career in the video game industry in either journalism or marketing/PR. Ryan’s favorite game franchises include Metal Gear Solid, Final Fantasy, and Legend of Zelda.

Originally born in St. Augustine, FL and currently residing in Chicago, IL David grew up playing the NES and has a devoted love to Nintendo, retro arcade games, and platformers. In between downloading XBLA titles he spends time drawing and dreaming of making video games himself.

Ryan Myers

Staff Writer, Founder of RoboGuzu.com

Ryan roams the mean streets of suburban Chicago, taking on all DDR challengers and stalking steak tacos. He speaks just enough Japanese to embarrass himself in any situation. He is almost entirely positive that he is not a clone.

Carl Baker

Facilitator of Awesome, Retro Guru

Carl grew up playing what ever his family had for his faithful SNES, whether it be the Super Star Wars series, Super Mario World, or The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. When the Nintendo 64 released he was instantly hooked on The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, a game that he still considers to be his all-time favorite and the title that planted the seeds of Zelda addiction. Carl currently resides somewhere in Colorado where he plays everything from the Sega Saturn to Playstation 3 and yells at people on the Internet who think The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker is a bad game.

Carl has been writing on and off for RoboAwesome since January 2010.
