I am the bat.

Batman: Arkham Asylum is a game that most gamers have known for some time.  Although it was only released last week, the allure of the Dark Knight and this well executed showdown with the Joker at the infamous Arkham Asylum has been a major attention draw all through out the game’s development.

And for good reason.  Batman: Arkham Asylum not only excels at portraying the well-loved superhero, it also stands firmly on its own as a wonderful game, regardless of the context it draws from.

Batman: Arkham Asylum Demo Coming This Friday

One of the games that surprisingly stood out at E3 was the upcoming Eidos/Warner Bros venture Batman: Arkham Asylum.  While the many screenshots that have surfaced showed a polished and pretty title, seeing the game in action is what really sold us.  The graphics are superb on this jam, and seeing it in motion only made the game look that much more beautiful.  Playing Batman: Arkham Asylum hands on left your favorite professional hero with allusive memories of Dead Space, as both titles seem to execute a buttery smooth, flawless depiction of the main character and the world around him.

All that awesomeness is making the wait until August 27 – when Batman: Arkham Asylum hits shelves – a long one.  But luckily for all of us who are eagerly anticipating the title, a demo will be coming down for Xbox 360 and PS3 this Friday.

Gotta start practicing my gruff voice...Dark Knight was a great movie – of this we can all agree. I can’t help but feel that the Joker in this trailer though just doesn’t seem quite as diabolical.

Oh well. The gameplay itself does look pretty cool. Reminds me quite a bit of the Splinter Cell franchise except instead of some Just For Men Hair Color protagonist we’ve got the incredible Batman.

Batman is my favorite superhero of all time and unfortunately none of the video games based on his legacy have been knock out titles. I guess that’s what happens when you try and force development of a video game onto an already awesome property.
